How to Study for the Certified Relocation Professional Exam

Certified Relocation ProfessionalGetting my Corporate Relocation Professional (CRP) Designation from the Worldwide Employee Relocation Council (ERC) is a goal that I’ve been working towards since my first day here at XONEX Relocation. With the exam coming up in May, my study sessions have become much more vigorous. Since I’m sure there are a lot of readers out there who are also trying to get ready for this exam, I thought it appropriate to share some preparation and study tips that I have found helpful.

Top Three Relocation and HR Conferences for 2013

Relocation Conferences and eventsEveryone in relocation loves a good conference. And, why wouldn’t we? Conferences are great ways to meet new people, reunite with old friends and learn about any new developments that can impact our businesses. Personally, I think January is a great time to assess the conference landscape to start making decisions (or at least a wish list) about events to attend. In fact, earlier this week I read a post over at Blogging 4 Jobs about upcoming HR and recruiting conferences. It gave me the idea to highlight some of our favorite conferences for the year. So, without further ado, here are our top three HR and corporate relocation conferences for 2013.

Live Relocation Event: Get the Buzz from ERC’s Global Workforce Symposium

It’s that time of year again! I’m thrilled to be at Worldwide ERC’s Global Workforce Symposium in Washington, D.C. today. One of the things I love about this conference is networking. I get to meet some really cool people. In fact, I’ve already chatted with someone from The Geek Squad, a fine home builder, a real estate professional who has pedaled 600 miles on his bike, a straight shooting HR professional that I’ve known forever, a sky-diving mortgage expert and a global mobility manager that does sprint triathlons. Needless to say, the cocktail conversation has been great. So, I thought, what’s a better way to share it with you than to blog live from the event?

There’s No App for That

iPhone 4 BOKEHWith the advances in technology today you can pretty much do everything with the touch of a button, tap of the finger or swipe of the hand. I love a good app, so I have magic little icons to help me with everything from crunching numbers on a spreadsheet to writing letters, shopping, video conferencing, traveling and even dining (I actually do eat, but you get the picture!).

It’s a Small World After All

It's a Small Relocation WorldRecently, as I was merrily making my way to the Hyatt Regency in downtown Denver for the 2011 Global Workforce Symposium (a relocation conference) in mid-October, I found myself sharing a shuttle bus ride with a, shall we say, hippy-esque type of gentleman from Michigan. He sported a mop-top head of white hair, wore orange and red prayer beads around his neck and peered at me through his round, Lennon-like specs. His name was Frank and he was wildly fascinating.
